Is this program right for you?
Are you passionate, curious, aspirational, and open-minded with time and energy to commit to practice and learning? A trainee’s flexible and enthusiastic approach to learning is far more significant than any “milestones” in practice, but you should have enough yoga experience to understand the commitment required by the program.
Join our Yoga Alliance registered 200 hour yoga teacher training program and gain an exceptional foundation in the history, philosophy, and methods of practice encompassed in hatha yoga. You will graduate with a highly recognized credential from one of the area’s most respected schools as well as with the skills and passion for teaching inclusive, effective, uplifting yoga classes.
The program emphasizes developing a personal practice that will guide your teaching and continued learning. As a graduate, you will be unique in your ability to know and understand your students, including knowledge of anatomy, principles of effective movement, Ayurvedic constitutions, energetics, and learning styles. Our trainers offer individualized guidance and mentorship, and the program includes intensive guided practice teaching, so you will be prepared to excel as a teacher and to continue to grow as a student and practitioner.
To successfully complete the program, you will complete 180 contact hours, participating fully in all sessions which will each include some lecture, some asana practice, and lots of discussion and group activities. See Program Dates and Times.
We understand that you may need to miss a class, though we ask you do so as infrequently as possible. We offer makeup sessions on the last Wednesday of each month for up to nine hours, so you can still complete your certification on time. There is a $50 administrative fee for makeup sessions. The other option is to make up hours during the next round of training.
Outside of class, you will complete 20 homework hours, observe three classes, and teach four supervised practice classes. Finally, good teachers are students first. You will attend and log 40 classes at Yoga Bird as a student. These classes are included in the cost of your enrollment.
