To many, breathing may seem like a small, mundane part of life; but before finding yoga, remembering to rely on this rhythmic movement is what helped me get through some of life’s more challenging moments. It wasn’t until I found myself on the mat, however, that I came to realize the natural intelligence and powerful energy of my breath in my body. My world changed forever when I found the Shakti, or power, that had been woven into my breath all along. With time, the Universe soon lead me to Yoga Bird’s Teacher Training program, and I left with the understanding of how strong a purpose our breath has in our lives; it guides us to explore the much deeper layers of our Selves. Now, as a student of Yoga first and a teacher second, my intent is to continue learning from my students while offering a safe and compassionate space for anyone and everyone who is interested in exploring the beautiful tradition of yoga.
Katie Kupser instructs the following:
Power Yoga at the Bird is an accessible, yet challenging asana practice for body and mind to help you build strength and endurance and cultivate a clear mind. Learn to work with more challenging sequences and poses in a way that allows you to build inner support so that your practice is invigorating, safe, and sustainable. Students are encouraged to modify and rest as appropriate. It will be helpful to be familiar with some common poses and modifications from Yoga 1.
Yoga Bird Flow
This upbeat, mixed-level class incorporates both alignment of the body and vinyasa (breath by breath movement) to help you experience profound benefits in a short time. In this class, you very much design your own experience, with the instructor suggesting ways to slow down and focus on inner awareness or ways to build heat and challenge. The diversity available in this practice is part of what makes it so fun.
