Restorative Yoga

The first time I found myself on a yoga mat was in 2006, on vacation, with a library DVD and the gripping fear that I was doing it all wrong. I was surprised that during the practice, I enjoyed the stilling sensation of being aware of my body and breath, and after, the warm and lasting glow I felt. Upon returning home, I signed up for a beginner series at my local studio, where I stayed for 5 years before moving to Fort Myers, FL. For me, yoga began as a way to heal severe back pain, condition my body, and to find serenity in a stressful life. Since, the true and lasting tradition of yoga has continued to unfold for me, and has become my greatest source of physical and emotional healing, of confidence and personal strength, and of mental and spiritual growth. I am honored by the opportunity to share my love for the many facets of yoga and the wellness system of Ayurveda through studio classes, workshops, private classes, and Be Well sessions! Through light-hearted, encouraging, and alignment/stability focused practices, my intention is to authentically empower others to find and grow in the strength and peace of their own inner lights.

Linda Rowland

I first discovered yoga 6 years ago as I sought a new way to manage old stresses. It wasn't long before I started to see and feel the profound difference that the practice had on my mind, body and spirit. I ultimately wanted to learn how to share it with others. Since completing my training, my own teacher’s soul has found true delight in teaching yoga. My goal is for students to find what serves them best in their practices; for some that may be learning how to do advanced poses, but for many it is really about finding balance and inner peace and getting in touch with their own physical and spiritual selves. To that end, while I love teaching all levels of yoga classes, I truly enjoy teaching Basic, Gentle and Restorative classes and incorporating crystal bowl sound therapy into my classes. The bowls create a sort of magic all their own, and I am grateful to be able to share that magic with Yoga Bird students of all levels!
Suitable for all levels, this deeply relaxing, rejuvenating class begins with an exploration of gentle, nurturing movements designed to help the mind and the physical body prepare for surrender to long, quiet restorative poses. Using the supports offered by bolsters, blankets and other props students will relax into poses designed to cultivate deliberate stillness and deep release. Class will end with an extended savasana and meditation incorporating the healing properties of the crystal bowls.
