Yoga Bird offers an extraordinary 200-hour Yoga Alliance approved Yoga Teacher Certification Program.
You will graduate with a highly recognized credential from one of the area’s most respected schools as well as with the skills and passion for teaching inclusive, effective, uplifting yoga classes. The program is divided into three segments.

Asana, Anatomy, and Alignment

Learn the fundamentals of asana practice, including how to categorize poses according to function and how to sequence poses into an intelligent practice.  Discover meaningful ways to help students (and yourself) grow in your physical practice that are safe, accessible, sustainable, and that serve the body, mind, and spirit.

Yoga Philosophy and Meditation

Explore the ancient wisdom that comprises the philosophy of yoga and learn how to apply it to yoga practice and to success in your life. Learn to work with your nervous system and your mind through the subtle practices of yoga including relaxation, breathing, and meditation.

Teaching Yoga

Become a confident teacher and yoga professional. Practice specific teaching techniques that will allow you to teach in a variety of settings and to be an inclusive and uplifting instructor.  Learn and practice important professional skills that will help you make the most of your certification now and as you grow as a teacher.

Each segment is offered two times per year.  You can begin with either Asana or Philosophy.  You need to complete both of those before taking Teaching Yoga.  You have up to two years to complete all three.

The tuition for each segment is $1,100, which can be discounted to $1,000 for those who pay in full by the early registration date. There will be suggested readings for each segment, which you can generally purchase for well under $100.

The program is held Saturdays and Sundays, from 9 am to 6 pm.  There is a one hour break for lunch each day. Each day will consist of some asana practice, some exploration and discussion, as well as group learning activities.  Homework and practice suggestions will be given for you to complete at your own pace.

To graduate from the program, you must complete all three segments, with full attendance and active participation. You must successfully complete three practice teaching sessions as well as four supervised classes. You will complete three class observations, a written test, and finally, take at least 40 classes at Yoga Bird during the course of your training. (You will have 30 days to complete these after graduation if necessary.) You will receive free, unlimited yoga during those months that you are actively participating in a segment!

If something unexpected happens and you miss a weekend training session, you can make up one of your weekends during the next time that segment is offered.  If you have to miss more than once, you will need to speak to the program director about how to best proceed.

The program is directed by Anna Withrow, and she teaches it along with Chip Withrow, Heather Olson, Marti Dowman, and Linda Rowland, some of the most experienced and respected teachers in the area, each with a unique background in both yoga and education.  We are all excited to meet you and help you begin your journey toward self-discovery and becoming an amazing yoga teacher.
