Jamie Verley

The first time I found myself on a yoga mat was in 2006, on vacation, with a library DVD and the gripping fear that I was doing it all wrong. I was surprised that during the practice, I enjoyed the stilling sensation of being aware of my body and breath, and after, the warm and lasting glow I felt. Upon returning home, I signed up for a beginner series at my local studio, where I stayed for 5 years before moving to Fort Myers, FL. For me, yoga began as a way to heal severe back pain, condition my body, and to find serenity in a stressful life. Since, the true and lasting tradition of yoga has continued to unfold for me, and has become my greatest source of physical and emotional healing, of confidence and personal strength, and of mental and spiritual growth. I am honored by the opportunity to share my love for the many facets of yoga, and through an encouraging, alignment and stability focused practice, my intention is to empower others to find and grow in the strength and peace of their own inner lights.

Jamie Verley instructs the following:
  • Yoga 1
  • This well-rounded practice is great for beginners and experienced yogis. Each class will include stretching and essential yoga poses. Classes include clear explanation of the poses and suggestions for how to modify them for your abilities and goals. Yoga 1 allows you to work at an individualized pace to become stronger and more flexible and to improve balance. Beginners will love the pace and explanation, while experienced yogis will have the opportunity to refine and deepen what they have practiced.

  • Candlelight Slow Flow
  • Slow down your yoga practice by lengthening, deepening and following the breath. Learn how to incorporate mindfulness into each movement as you begin to awaken your nervous system and allow it to create peace and calmness. Students are encouraged to move with their breath to gain a deeper, more tranquil access to each pose. Great for beginners and advanced practitioners alike.

  • Yoga Bird Flow
  • This upbeat, mixed-level class incorporates both alignment of the body and vinyasa (breath by breath movement) to help you experience profound benefits in a short time. In this class, you very much design your own experience, with the instructor suggesting ways to slow down and focus on inner awareness or ways to build heat and challenge. The diversity available in this practice is part of what makes it so fun.

  • Open Silent Meditation
  • Join us for twenty minutes of minimally guided mediation. Each session will include some guidance on finding a comfortable seat, breathing easily and focusing your mind on your breath or on a mantra from the yoga tradition. No experience necessary.

  • Yoga 2
  • Learn more about yoga and about your mind-body connection in Yoga 2. This class will explore more subtle aspects of aligning the body as well as breathing and meditation techniques that help you begin to develop your own rich, full practice of yoga. Some more challenging poses may be explored, but as always, modifications are given for multiple levels of ability. The focus of the class is a deeper practice, rather than an advancement of physical ability.

  • All Levels Yoga
  • All Levels Yoga invites you to work with your body and breath however it shows up on a given day. Your instructor will offer various options with most poses so you can explore and learn more on days when you feel energetic or stay with the fundamentals on days when you need the stability. All Levels classes may be suitable for beginners, but if you’re brand new, you may spend some time observing some poses or taking more rest. All Levels is a great place to learn more about the poses and practices and how to use them to help you meet your goals in body and mind.

  • Gentle Yoga
  • Begin to awaken to your body in Gentle Yoga, gradually gaining flexibility and mobility through stretching the body and stabilizing the breath. Those new to the practice will benefit from the slower pace and emphasis on reclining and seated postures. More experienced students find Gentle Yoga a place to reconnect with the fundamentals of practice and to cultivate mindful awareness.
